We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone whosupported and made the transformation of the Lighthouse Park into a Marinethemed eco park possible - Creme De La Creme, Coastal Zone Management Authorityand Institute, Belize City Council, and the Ministry of Blue Economy and MarineConservation.
On February 17, over 100 volunteers came together andliterally transformed the park before our eyes. We were joined byamazing students from Holy Redeemer Primary and St. Mary’s Anglican School, whojumped right in to help.
Some of the exciting upgrades included:
Reinforcement of theslides for safety
Installation of abrand-new swing set
New light fixtures tobrighten up the space
A small stage forcommunity events and performances
A vibrant mural by LeonCaine and an incredible marine-themed sculpture by Ian Fabro
New signage showcasing allseven of Belize’s World Heritage Sites
And a completemarine-themed makeover that ties it all together
Through this project, we aimed to:
Promoteenvironmental awareness by educating visitors about marine ecosystems andconservation through interactive displays and signage.
Enhancerecreational space by creating a unique, themed environment for residents andvisitors to enjoy and engage with.
Support localconservation efforts by highlighting native marine species and fosteringcommunity pride and stewardship.
